as luck would have it...

my sisters and i have been doing a little genealogy for my mama's side of the family with my grandma over the last year.  i suppose i should say-- ken, jo and gangs have done most since i just became involved a month or so a go. (it's a whole other exciting blog full of stories and fun facts to be posted at a later date. you won't want to miss it, unless you're not related and if that's the case, you won't mind missing it at all.)  regardless, we have discovered a good bit of irish blood running through these veins of ours.  we haven't ever really made a big deal of good ol' st. paddy's day, but in the words of my sister kenna, "it is our right and obligation to celebrate."  so, celebrate we did.....

(it sure gives a little meaning to that year we did irish step dancing, huh sisters?  oh, those were the days and quite the outfits, i might add. now point, hop, toe....arms straight! ;))

first, we were visited by a darling leprechaun and his pot of gold.  we then headed over to the sitake's where the leprechauns left some goodies for the children and we made a mostly irish, but most certainly delicious, feast.
on the menu:
shepherd's pie
steamed cabbage
cabbage salad
irish i were drunk pot pie
green cream soda
and
somewhere over the rainbow cake
(coconut cake with lemon frosting)
i told tim i would make everything else if she would just make the cake, "perfectly plain, with all the colors of the rainbow." she definitely did not disappoint.  it was everything i dreamed it to be only tastier.=)

the kids frolicked about and ate too many chocolate coins while mark and i snuck out for a little playtime. (thanks for sitting sisters!) overall, our first st. patrick's day celebration was a fine one but we still "just wanna know where da gold at?" ;)

Well Tim, you certainly made up for the misplaced spots on the mushroom. That cake was more than fantastic! Good work!

haha, yes she did, deann! this blog had me cracking up ... thinking about dancing on that stage--get those knees up higher and higher!

Where is this video of you sisters doing the step dance? (Surely one exists)...and why is it not included on this blog?!

whoa, i had such a c.h. moment. excuse me, pardon me, how em-bursting. such a hypocrite am i. ;) oh, that video does exists and it will be posted here on "she & hims" when i am dead and gone. kidding. we need to get all our dance recitals transferred to dvd. this was in the 80's & 90's when all this was going down.=)

and what a stage it was, ken. full of stomps and mecindo.;) i think i worked out for a half hour last night only listening to "shawty swing my way". so sentimental lately.;)

"see!" (-in elle's voice) i am feeling so sentimental. i had to go listen to some everclear and reminisce of our days spent in the waters of satellite beach. and, of course, jenn and i going to the everclear concert. oh jenn, are you out there?? can you hear me?? ;)

Oh I will never forget that concert! It was my first. "Everything's so wonderful" that night. And and T-Shirt from Jimmie's Chicken Shack! What ever happened to that?

maranda starr said...

jo would not allow addy to touch that cake with a 10 foot pole, tay, and you know it! not with that poisonous food coloring in it.=)

jenni!! i forgot about jimmie and the t-shirt until i read your comment!! i have no idea what happened to them? i'll ebay us some.=) miss you, can't wait to see you and relive our days in the sun & sea.=)

I heard that! What about kidnapping me to your skipping school beach days! Any normal little sister would have loved it; however, I am no normal and I wanted to be at school!

Love the party. Thanks for making the ancestors proud! <3
