we took a very last minute trip to jackson hole & yellowstone over memorial day weekend (mark decided around midnight the night before we left that it sounded like fun, i concurred, so off we were.).  it rained, snowed and was pretty cold the whole time which was great while we were hanging out in jackson and teton village, it only added to the moutainesque atmosphere. but not so great while at yellowstone, for there were none-too-many animals to be seen and it made for far less pictures taken than should have been. (we have vowed to go back when the snow has melted and the animals have gotten their horns in. our friends, the dunns, were coming as we were leaving and saw bears-- i was terribly jealous.)  snow and cold included, it was a wonderful trip with my boys with the loveliest of drives through the most magnificent mountains.

we swam and hot-tubbed a ton in just 3 days....

and ate loads of ice cream (some people had sore throats)....

baby child

my baby is almost in kindergarten!

mad had his last week of preschool last week (minus the summer camp he and rosie are going to at miss denise's this month), it's pretty much heartbreaking. i'm just not nearly ready for him to grow up and go and learn correct grammar, his bate-ed and feed-ed are just too cute. nevertheless, life keeps moving on whether i want it to or not, so we celebrated with maddy pie in his end-of-preschool festivities -- rocket day and graduation.

we took the boys to the u2 concert last night,

well.....sort of.  

we got a pizza, parked outside the stadium [in a surprisingly great spot], hopped in the back of the truck and listened to bono & his irish gang do their thing.  

 [mad was a little bothered that we weren't on the inside of stadium.]

 [however, as you can see, max was enthusiastic about the whole thing and kept repeating, "this was a great idea, mom."]

a couple of weeks ago, i surprised mark with a little "road trip get away" (sans children) to celebrate some really great things that have been happening in our lives the past couple of months (all thanks to markus).  we had such a grand time being all footloose and fancy free (even for just a few days) -- swimming, hiking, staying up way too late, watching scary movies, eating at 2 o'clock in the morning, chit chattin' under the stars, sleeping wherever our heads happen to land, listening to music as loud as possible, acting as if we were some young 20 year olds again and doing just whatever our little hearts desired.  {thanks mama for watching the boys and mom & dad for letting us crash at your house for a couple of nights.}

[we ate at this great mexican restaurant in vegas called mundo.  they had really delicious chips and were very generous with the cotija cheese which is always great in my book.=)]

[i had an electronics curse on this trip. first, my laptop got a virus and  had to go spend a couple days at the doctor in st. george. then i dropped my phone in the hot tub and it had to spend a couple days drying itself off in a bag of rice.]

[mark rescued my phone from the hot tub,  he's real fast (i couldn't process), but last time we were there i rescued our niece from the pool so, i think i'm more of the hero here.;)]

easter for the little darlings....

{this year i decided to fill the boys in on a little secret about the easter bunny,  the secret being that i am him and he is me.  they refused to accept it (mad swears he's seen him.) and even after walking in on me filling their baskets, they thought it was pretty cool of him to bring them so much money. what's a girl to do??}

1.   I am looking forward to  the get aways we have planned (and the ones we don't)!  max being out of school (i want him with me.), good friends visiting, summer concerts, hiking weather, lunch outside, sun-dresses, flip flops, shorts with sweatshirts, the smell of sunblock, beaches and more beaches. (i could really go on for a while.)


2.  Something kind of embarassing that I still love anyway is  judge judy.  i can't help myself, sometimes i just have to watch.  it reminds me of polk county and i'm just waiting for the day that i see someone i know on there. 


3.  My favorite car is   a paid off one.=) my taste in cars changes with the weather but, if i had to pick a couple to put in writing... i like jeeps (they remind me of my young, carefree days),  the audi q7, my car (especially since i just got it detailed) and i like subarus (call me johnny) because the symbol has stars on it  & my sister used to have one that she would call "super roo" (roo is what my dad calls me.) after me. (and yes, that is the reason for my liking.)


4.  If I could pick one type of weather to live with for the rest of my life it would be summer weather. i love it. i feel it is the season that is best suited for messy people like myself; messy hair, clothes put on carelessly, wearing bathing suits all day long, tan/sunburned skin. also, it rains a lot in florida in the summer and i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the rain!!


5.  My favorite thing to do after a bad/stressful day is  hot yoga (although, i haven't been lately=/)! that 90 minutes of sweating changes my life for at least 3 full days.  besides, it burns something like 800+ calories a session so i feel like i can eat a lot after, which is my second favorite thing to do after a stressful day. 


6.  This weekend i will be partying it up at my niece's 4th b-day party, saying goodbye to my mama, finishing  my classes for school (blah.), playing with my babies, perhaps catching up on these blog posts of mine, maybe a little trip to the home depot....not sure if i'll have enough time.;)


7.  If I were a color, I'd be  yellow because, it's my favorite and it's warm and soothing; and is the color of sunshine, wildflowers and happiness.

happy birthday my dearest nan! {my forever friend from long ago, diane.} okay, so it's a day late, but this wild heart of mine could not muster up the will to do it yester-me, yester-you, yesterday.  i know that wild heart of yours understands.  besides, you have been dragging on this birthday thing for far too long already, "call me back right when you get this, it's my birthday month."  {oh that nan. bless her heart, she's so crazy.;)}

i love you more than my vocubilary (vocabulary) allows me to express.  i love that we know each other beyond what we do or say, like sisters.   i love that childish, old soul of yours and your witch-like intuitions. i love that you are "so new york and then l.a. and every town along the way." {great song.}  i love when your latin-ness comes out when you get really mad.{ooo, child!} i love that you used to make fun of people who thought their dogs were like humans and now you do too. i love that you force me {yes, force.} to be a stronger person.  basically, i'm real glad you're in my life and i hope all the wishes in that little, dreamer heart of yours come true.  xxox
